3Plus1 is an IP semiconductor company, based in Silicon Valley, developing next-generation, ultra low-power, scalable processors IP cores that look like DSPs at design-time and have high efficiencies of ASICs at run-time, for multi-mode CODEMs (CODECs and MODEMs) for communications and multimedia applications running concurrently and targeting the explosive convergence mobile market.

As the company name implies, value is created for users of the Patent pending technology in Power, Price and Performance for a Programmable processor. Added to this is the flexibility for downloading new applications to mobile systems, on the fly and creation of next generation convergent hand held systems.

3Plus technology enables new system products such as multi functional cellular phones, cameras, PDA’s, and Ultra Mobile PC’s to be produced with extended battery lifetimes and flexible, downloadable applications, at low cost. Using an industry standard approach to programming, 3Plus1 enabled mobile devices can provide a fast time to market for OEM system manufacturers who have been limited by low battery life, high material costs and long development cycles.

3Plus1 Technology has been self financed from its inception in 2003, by its founders and customers. The company has continued to generate revenue by sales of its development platform, services, and IP licensing.

Market

The market for wireless communication and multimedia processors such as DSP’s is forecast to be the most robust and fast growing in the industry. The 3Plus1 mobile system markets include cellular phones, cameras, PDA’s and mobile PC’s. Volumes of these systems are in excess of 900 million units in 2006, and forecasted to grow at or above 15% APGR for the next five years, with the addition of new subscribers and replacements of existing systems that will take advantage of the additional features enabled by the 3Plus1 applications. Within these markets subscribers are demanding lower power implementation of hand held devices, based on limited battery life for new voice, video and data services. This demand is readily satisfied by 3Plus1’s CoolEngine family.
